Latest results and standings of the quarterfinals result in day 1

On day 1 of the quarterfinals, we witnessed a huge upset as we saw both kt Rolster (KT) and Royal Never Give Up (RNG) the two of the favorites to win the Worlds 2018 tournament both get eliminated. Each quarterfinal match took it to the wire where the fate of each team was decided in the 5th and final game of the best of 5.

The curse that surrounds RNG Uzi appears to remain unbroken. Uzi is regarded as one of the world’s best ADC (Attack Damage Carry) as has never won the World’s tournament. We will have to wait until next year for Uzi to have another chance to break the curse.

Day 1 quarterfinal recap

Now it’s the remaining four teams left to compete on day 2 of the Worlds quarterfinals. Cloud9 (C9) will take on Afreeca Freecs (AFS) and the last match will be between Fnatic (FNC) against Edward Gaming (EDG).

At the start of the tournament, C9 was in a group known as the group of death. They were drawn against Gen.G who were the reigning champions and RNG who everyone thought would be the only team to dethrone Gen.G. Against all odds C9 made it through their group.

Can they carry the momentum to reach the semi-finals?

AFS struggled in their open games but bounce straight back by winning all their games in the second part of the double round robin.
