Celebrating the Chinese New Year, the Year of the Pig, a handful of Pokemon will be more frequently found in the wild. This will include the Shiny Spoink!

Marking the beginning of the Chinese New Year, Pokemon Go starts its Lunar New Year event. It will see 12 Pokemon appear more in the wild when you are roaming around in Pokemon Go as well as Spoink the Pig-like Pokémon. Players will also benefit 2 x Catch XP, 2 x XP when evolving Pokemon plus trading bonuses.

Lunar New Year Event In Pokémon Go

Pokémon Go have brought back the Lunar New Year Event which rewards players with bonuses. When you trade a Pokemon, there is an increased chance that the Pokémon will become a Lucky Pokémon. Separate from Shiny and Forms; a Lucky Pokemon is a Pokemon who has their stardust is reduced to 50%. The Pokemon will require less stardust to level the Pokemon up.

When roaming around you will see 12 Pokemon appearing more frequently here are the 12 Pokemon you will see:-

Rattata, Ekans, Mankey, Ponyta, Electabuzz, Dratini, Mareep, Miltank, Torchic, Poochyena, Spoink, and Buneary

Shiny Spoink and Shiny Grumpig

To celebrate the Year of The Pig, there will be a chance to encounter a Shiny Spoink who you can evolve into a Shiny Grumpig. Spoink, you guessed it is a grey, pig-like Pokémon that bounces on its spring-like tail that help to keep its heart beating. The Pokémon is a psychic Pokemon that can learn Ghost-type and Psychic-type moves but is vulnerable to Bug, Dark or Ghost-type moves.

If you have enough candy, 50 to be precise then you can evolve Spoink into Grumpig. Sprouting legs and black pearls that help amplify its psychic powers.

To get a Shiny Grumpig you must have a Shiny Spoink and then evolve it.
